Built nearly one hundred years ago, 6, Knott is a traditional two-storey croft house that has been recently renovated to provide modern amenities combined with original features, character and charm.
The four-bedroomed house sleeps 6 comfortably in two double bedrooms, one twin and one single (there are enough beds to sleep seven, but only one bathroom). Downstairs there is a cosy eat-in kitchen with a new oil-fired Rayburn, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine/dryer. There are also two sitting rooms (one with a table for dining - or scrabble) both with open fires. There is one bathroom.
The house is equipped to a high standard with antiques and quality furnishings, duvets and blankets, electric blankets etc. There is a stereo, television, DVD player and video, with a selection of CDs and films. There is also a range of books and games. Apart from the Rayburn and open fires, there is background heating provided by electric storage heaters.
Outside, the private, enclosed garden has a shallow burn (a couple of inches deep at the most, but perfect for fishing for newts), wonderful trees for climbing and an open fireplace for barbeques. There is comfortable garden furniture, a children's swing and a hammock. The garden is bordered on three sides by sheep fields and grazing land which rise gently to one side of the cottage (between the sea and the house) - but there are far-reaching views from upstairs rooms and from the garden, and on a clear day you can see the Island of Harris from the shower!
There is parking for two cars.
The sea shore is a few minutes walk away, as is the oldest established riding stable in Skye, offering riding lessons and pony trekking along nearby beaches and through stunning countryside.
The house is on the edge of the small crofting community of Suledale/Knott, so while peaceful it is not isolated. The nearest shop and pub are 3 miles away.
6, Knott is conveniently situated in the centre of the beautiful island of Skye, approximately half way between Dunvegan and Portree. It is easily accessible to most of the island's best known sights, walks, restaurants (including the Three Chimneys and Loch Bay Fish Restaurant) and pubs, including some with regular live music (at Edinbane and Skeabost House Hotel). Portree, the island's capital, is ten miles away.
Pets are welcome, by arrangement. Linen (not towels), heating and electricity are included in the price.
