6 Knott - seen here from across the fields - is in a quiet location, although not isolated.

6 Knott is located ten miles west of Portree, halfway between Portree and Dunvegan, close to Loch Snizort. It is approximately 40 minutes by car from the Skye Bridge (which is two hours by road from Inverness) and 45 minutes from the ferry port at Armadale Pier.

By Road: Take the A850 out of Portree (the island's main town) towards Dunvegan. After about eight miles the road passes over the Treaslane River and through the crofting community of Bernisdale. After two more miles, just before entering another crofting community at Suledale, take a right turn at a road signposted to 'Knott'. The turning is just before the signpost to Portree Riding Stables and Cafe which is to the left. 6 Knott is about 200 metres along that road, which ends in the sea shore, on the right hand side.

By Air: There are regular flights to Inverness Airport from most major airports in the south. There are also a number of direct flights from Europe to Inverness. Inverness is approx two and a half hours by bus and car from Portree.

By Rail: There are trains from Edinburgh and Glasgow to Mallaig, (connecting with the ferry to Armadale Pier), and to Kyle of Lochalsh (the Skye Bridge).

By Ferry: From Mallaig on the Scottish Mainland to Armadale Pier in the south of the Island. There is also a small ferry at Glenelg. Connections to the islands of Harris, Lewis, North and south Uist in the Outer Hebrides leave regularly from Uig, about half an hour's drive from the croft.
